UPR: A Visual Timeline

The UPR process can be complex and at times confusing. The important things to remember are that it's a 5 year cycle process, consisting of 3 key stages.

Pre-Session Stage

September 16th

CSO's start lobbying through embassies on behalf of their SuR (State Under Review).

Pre-Session Stage

October 2nd

The lobbying Recommending States takes place in Geneva. This year, in-person lobbying has been suspended due to the global health crisis.

Pre-Session Stage

October 13th

A virtual pre-session stage takes place for the United States and Honduras.

UPR Session Start

November 6th

The UPR review of Honduras takes place.

UPR Session Start

November 9th

The UPR review of the United States takes place.

UPR Session Finish

November 10th

Adoption of the UPR report on Honduras

November 13th

Adoption of the UPR report on the United States.
